Pet Drugs Online

Pet Drugs Online (PDOL) is a trusted name for many UK pet owners, built from an authentic care for animal health and wellbeing. Best known for delivering affordable pet medications online, PDOL offers far more than pharmaceuticals.

The Challenge.

We were briefed to launch their new pet food offering nationally. Awareness was essential, but sales mattered just as much. And all of this needed to be achieved on a modest media budget.

The task presented a formidable set of obstacles. PDOL was entering a highly competitive category dominated by major players with much bigger budgets.

The UK pet food market was in decline. Many challenger brands were responding with a race to the bottom on price, relying heavily on promotions and discount-led messaging.

Our core challenge was clear: how do you make a national launch feel significant, when your competitors are spending many multiples of your budget?

Insight & Strategy.

Our strategy was anchored in a powerful consumer truth: pet owners don’t want cheap food – they want quality and reassurance. They want to know they’re making the right choice for their pets, without paying inflated prices

PDOLs greatest strength was their genuine care for pets. We needed to make that authenticity felt with every impression.

With a modest budget, broad reach alone wasn’t enough. We needed to focus on precision, frequency and impact.

Results.

At Flight Feather, media effectiveness is core to our foundation.

For PDOL, we went beyond clicks and impressions, putting robust measurement at the heart of the campaign. Brand lift studies ran across YouTube, Meta, and Amazon, backed by bespoke GA4 reporting, ensuring every action was tied to real-world impact.

Impact.

The campaign didn’t just perform – it delivered standout results across both brand and performance metrics.

  • YouTube viewers were up to 80% more likely to be aware of PDOL after exposure
  • Meta activity drove a 78% relative lift in brand awareness and 175% relative lift in ad awareness
  • A 23pp uplift in GA4 for ‘Food Item Sessions’ period-on-period
  • £39 CPA vs £45 benchmark from previous activity

In a declining market, these results redefined what’s possible for a challenger brand. With the right insight and execution, even a modest budget can punch well above its weight.
